About Jen

My commitment to community-based work began early. Growing up in Spokane, I watched my dad volunteer as a tutor with newly arrived refugees, an experience that helped shape my interest in working across cultures and building stronger, more welcoming communities.

My own professional path began with refugees as well. After working with U.S.- and Canadian-bound refugees in Vietnam, I returned to the United States and served with AmeriCorps. That experience launched a career that has now spanned more than 25 years across nonprofit organizations, government, and community-based initiatives.

Over the course of my career, I have worked in education, workforce development, refugee and immigrant services, health, youth programming, case management, volunteer training and development, program design and management, fundraising, and organizational development. I have led programs and teams, managed public and private funding, developed partnerships, facilitated collaborative planning, designed and strengthened programs, and worked with organizations and communities to turn ideas and needs into practical strategies.

A consistent thread throughout my work has been bringing people together. For nearly two decades, I chaired the King County Refugee Forum, helping build and sustain a space where nonprofit organizations, public agencies, schools, healthcare providers, elected officials, and local governments could come together to share information, identify emerging needs, discuss challenges and solutions, and learn from successes. That experience reflects an approach I have carried throughout my career: creating opportunities for people with different roles, perspectives, and expertise to listen to one another, identify common ground, and work toward practical solutions.

Through Jen Malloy Consulting LLC, I bring that experience to organizations that need thoughtful, practical support to move an idea, program, partnership, or organization forward. My approach combines strategic thinking with hands-on implementation and starts with listening. I am equally comfortable facilitating a planning process, conducting a community needs assessment, developing a proposal, designing a program, strengthening systems, or stepping in to help manage a complex project.

I hold a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Eastern Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis in Professional and Creative Writing from Central Washington University. I am TESOL certified and am continuing my graduate-level study in program evaluation.
